Week 5 done! They reduced my premeds yesterday as I’m not having any reactions to the taxol and carbo. They removed benadryl so I don’t feel so exhausted in the chemo chair. Win!

I realized I haven’t fully shared my treatment plan and want to document for those that may come after me on this journey.

I have 12 weeks of weekly treatment with 2 drugs taxol and carbo (those are the short form names)

I will also have keytruda immunotherapy every 3 weeks. This will continue for weeks even after chemo is over.

After my first 12 weeks, they will switch me to a different drug- AC combo also known as “red devil (this needs a rebrand). This drug will be every three weeks for a 12 cycle.

Once that is complete, my genetic testing results will be back and they will take that information, combined with the results of the chemo (how much the tumor has responded) and we will look at surgery options (lumpectomy, single or double mastectomy)

There will be a month off between chemo and surgery. After surgery and that healing period, we will discuss radiation.

Still a long journey ahead but the last few weeks have flown by and I’m settling into a new routine of appts and naps. I will do another post of all the things I’m doing outside of chemo that I have read to help manage side effects (and so far helping a lot).

That’s all for now, Xo
